Glide Mint Dental Floss
Review of Glide Mint Dental FlossThis Glide I bought two months ago is my first floss ever and Im really upset that Ive waited so long to experience its brilliance. Within minutes of setting it atop my vanity I was hacking away at years-old hunks of steak and spare ribs. As many people with teeth know, that alone is an achievement. I love the minimal effort it takes to clean between my teeth. No vigourous up and down and side to side stroking, just slide the floss between your teeth to get all the gook out! Also the floss comes in one very long continuous string so you dont have to go about plucking aimlessly with miles of bristles to dislodge that one chunk thats really bothering you. People tell me you pay more for Glide and get less in actual flossing power. Well, I dont pretend to be dental savvy enough to argue with this, but I counter with Glides quality of craftmanship and package design. From the overall look of the container down to the supple feel of the floss, and indeed even to the integration of flavoring agents such as mint and cinnamon, and Glide is ahead of the curve. That, coupled with the fact that this sleek container fits in just 2 inches of vanity space (!) is enough reason to purchase it. Dont be left behind, experience the dental revolution in all its glory with the new Glide! Review of Glide Mint Dental FlossBefore I was introduced to Glide by a dentist over five years ago, I had always been afraid of flossing. It was always next to impossible to get the floss between my rotten teeth, and then, it was even more impossible to actually do anything once the thread was in. Review of Glide Mint Dental FlossLike many customrs, I like Glide intially because it is easy to get inbetween your teeth, and slide in and out without much effort. But,after removing a tooth a few years ago, food easily got stuck inbetween my teeth near that region. I found that I need extra effort using Glide to get food scrap out as compared to traditional dental floss. Food scraps stick to traditional dental floss easier that to Glide, and hence can be removed with less flossing. The same reason makes Glide easy to use is exactly the same reason makes its in-effective in cleaning. Glide is made of Teflon material that is the same material made of non-sticky cooking utensil. Teflon is strong, but very slippery, non-sticking. That is why you can floss without fuss. But, would you buy a slippery scraping pad or use ice cubes to scrape your floor or bath tub To remove flood scraps or plague inbetween the teeth, you definitely want something less slippery, and let food scraps/plague stick to the floss surface better. No pain, no gain is true in this case, dont let high tech hypes and marketing tricks fool you otherwise. My point is that I have spent money, time and effort to floss faithfully everyday, I want to wring a worthy cleaning power out of each flossing move, I would use traditional floss material. Another point is that Glide is so slippery on my finger that I have to use longer floss to wind a few more rounds on my finger to hold it. Unfortunately, Glide is more y than other tradition floss brands, and they get selling more of their stuff. An advice for those who have severe dental conditions that require a good flossing everyday, you should stay away from Glide. Review of Glide Mint Dental FlossTry the newer version of Glide Floss called Comfort Plus Glide Floss instead. It does as good a cleaning job as the older version here; but the Comfort Plus version is much softer on the edges, it wont cut into your gum or lip as much. Review of Glide Mint Dental FlossAs any dental health professional will attest to, flossing ones teeth is just as important as brushing, and perhaps more so, for the bacteria that causes gum disease (and to a certain extent cavities) almost always starts between the teeth. Daily flossing breaks up the film of harmful bacteria and allows it to be removed. Therefore, as a dentist, I am always stressing the importance of daily flosing to my patients. My advice is this: Review of Glide Mint Dental FlossIve used Glide dental floss about 5 years, and my dentists office uses it as well. Glide is a bit thicker and wider than other flosses, but due to the lubrication, slides with less friction between the teeth. Theres a small controversy on whether more or less friction provides more flossing power, but my dentist believes less friction (i.e. smoother flossing) is better. While the wax on some other flosses is Teflon-based, the wax on Glide is natural bees wax, so is not technically a vegan product. (I confirmed this with the manufacturer.) Another thing that sets Glide apart from other flosses is the ingenious plastic window that shows you how much floss you have left. This helps avoid those oops, I pulled out a 2 piece of floss surprises. The floss rarely gets stuck in the container, but when it does, its easy to pry open the front of the container to fix this. I have only 2 complaints: (1) Although I buy the mint floss, it seems rather flavorless. Glide Mint Dental Floss-Product DirectionsFloss Daily. Wrap 18 to 24 section around middle fingers and draw tight. Slide floss between teeth, curving around tooth as you gently scrape between each tooth and gum. |
