2007-02-04 Kids get free dental work at University of Detroit Mercy clinicThe event was the third annual Give Kids A Smile program started in 2002 by the District Dental Societies in Detroit, Oakland and Macomb counties through the American Dental Association. Give Kids A Smile events were held across the state Friday and today. Many of the children who participated were from low-income families and had never been to a dentist before, volunteers said. Spencer was among the more than 250 youths from Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties who received free dental care today at the University of Detroit Mercy dental clinic. Area dentists, their staff and university dental students donated their time.
