Organizers of the clinic were turning patients away today, but they encouraged people to come out early Saturday. The event begins at 5 a. m. , but dentist Kevin Cassidy, who, along with several others, is donating his services at the event, encourages people to get in line at 3 or 4 in the morning.

Nowadays, I noticed that some toddlers as early as 2 years old would already have decayed teeth. Not wanting my own kids to suffer the same fate, I visited pediatric dentist Dr. Carmen Dina "Karing" Carriedo-Obach to know more about proper dental care. She is one of the five pediatric dentists based here in Davao City.

Dr. Karing opened Dental Point Clinic in after finishing her training at the Pediatric Dentistry Center in Manila. She is married to a fellow dentist, Dr. Wendell Obach, who specializes in oral surgery. Having a 10-month old son, Mateo Gabriel, makes pediatric dentistry closer to Dr. Karings heart.

2007-02-03 Evening News 24-Thousands refused treatment in dental crisis

Norfolk PCT denied there was a lack of capacity in NHS dentistry. A spokesman said: Across the county, there is plenty of capacity in NHS dentistry, this is particularly so in the Norwich area. However, should people find a dentist temporarily not taking patients, they are free to go to any other practice of their choice as there is no longer a requirement to be registered.

The sorry situation has emerged because Norfolk Primary Care Trust (PCT) faces a massive budget shortfall in dentistry due to a Government miscalculation when introducing a new dental contract in April last year.

2007-02-03 The Seattle Times: Local News: Reason to smile: Outpouring from readers will end his pain

One of those who reached out to help was Peter Carpenter, chief executive of ClearPoint, a Seattle health-insurance brokerage. Carpenter asked a dentist friend, Dr. Scott Moffitt, of Burien, to examine Coates. Moffitt said Coates had "extensive" problems, including infections not just in all four wisdom teeth but the four adjacent molars.

Coates, 34, was part of a story about the lack of dental care for poor and uninsured people. He had shown up at the Auburn Community Dental Clinic in agony from abscessed wisdom teeth. To numb his pain, he sipped ice water from a pitcher and carried a juice jug to spit out the tepid water.
