2008-11-15 An Irishmans Diary - The Irish Times

Elsewhere in the world, we find a former British neurologist called Henry Head; a director of the psychology programme at Texas Womens University, Roberta L, Nutt; a New York anger management specialist, Dr Richard Madden; a Washington opthalmologist, Kevin Blinder, a dentist in Virginia, Anthony J. Puller, and the author of a book entitled The Philosophy of Risk, John C. Chicken.

In a similar vein, there was something missing from a more recent study (on ecology), by two scientists - an American, T. L. Vincent, and an Australian, B. S. Goh. The problem was solved via a visitor to Vincents Arizona university, a Korean called M. V. Van. He was duly press-ganged, and the work thereby became a "Vincent Van Goh" production - although whether it was a work of art is doubtful.

Everything. You save from medicine to your eats, clothes, dentist work. You name it its all right here," said Beverly Holloway, bargain hunter.

From merchandise to prescription medication, others stretch their dollars by visiting a dentist there instead.

Im going to be down there at the dentist anyway. Ill just pack up on six months worth of prescriptions," said Ann Taylor, dental patient.

The economic downturn could translate into more business for bus tours companies that shuttle Arizona residents to the border to buy prescription drugs or visit dental clinics in Mexico.

Until earlier this year Levitt owned a Queen Anne skin care clinic called Regeneration. His drug use aroused suspicion from local pharmacists and the Drug Enforcement Administration, which later learned he was trading drugs with Seattle dentist Jacob Kerst. Kerst was also sentenced to probation earlier this month. Both have had drug problems for several years.

Instead of discipline for drug abuse, doctors can by referred for treatment to the WPHP by the Department of Health, which licenses physicians. It granted Levitt a license here in 1998, even though Maryland regulators suspended his license in 1992 for a drug conviction, and he later faced the same fate in Arizona for being high in the operating room.

2008-10-26 Peter Conrad talks women, witchcraft and the election with John Updike Books The Observer

In Couples, the assassination of Kennedy is noises off, dimly apprehended by the heroine, Foxy, as she lolls in a dentists chair; the disaster does not cause the cancellation of a party the wife-swappers have organised for that evening. Yes, I loaned Foxy my own memories of that day, Updike recalled. I was at the dentist near here in Brookline, and I remember when the easy-listening station on the radio they played to keep the patients calm interrupted some pop song for the news from Dallas. At first it was just the report of a shot; by the time I stepped forth on to the street, flashing my new crowns, Kennedy was dead and Johnson was being sworn in to replace him. I love that decision to go ahead with the party. Politics was really far from central to peoples lives in the early Sixties; it was all about the discovery of the

He cast himself as the defender of American values as he set off on a "Joe the Plumber" bus tour of Florida filled with photo ops with small business owners at a diner in Daytona Beach, a lumber yard in Ormond Beach, a dentists office in Altamonte Springs, a Mexican restaurant in Orlando, and a strawberry farm in Plant City.

For the second week since Obamas chance encounter with an Ohio plumber who was worried about the Democrats tax plans, the Arizona senator hammered at his rivals assertion that everyone is better off if you "spread the wealth around. "

2008-10-24 Brothers do battle when Rams, Aztecs take field The Coloradoan,

They battled each other at home and in the house often enough," said their father, Ted, a dentist and assistant football coach at Monarch High School in Louisville. "Theyve always been very competitive, but at the same time, they always took great interest in each others competitions in sports. "

During the game, its very fun to watch," said Ted, who played college football at Northern Arizona. "You can cheer for everything, because youre rooting for both teams, and were so proud during the game seeing them out there on the field. The hardest part is after the game we have to deal with one on a team that has lost. Thats probably the most difficult part of it. "
