2007-03-28 Hispanic PR Wire - Getting a Successful Dental Check-Up Gets Easier

Los Angeles, CA--(HISPANIC PR WIRE) --With over half of Latinos avoiding the dentists chair, it is imperative to address proper oral care at home and Crest Pro-Health is making it easy to take action in 2007. Crest Pro-Health Toothpaste, a new breakthrough dentifrice from Crest, is the first and only toothpaste that protects all these areas dentists check most often: cavities, gingivitis, tartar, plaque, sensitivity, whitening and it freshens breath. This is great news for Hispanics, who report a higher incidence of tartar, cavities, sensitive teeth and bad breath. And, to raise awareness among Hispanic consumers about the importance of a good oral health, Crest has created an educational program that aims to provide much needed information and solutions for those who dont get to the dentist as often as they should.

2007-03-09 Calif. Judges See a Disparity in Perks

For 10 years, counties have interpreted that one sentence very differently. Los Angeles supervisors contend, for instance, that lawmakers intended that they continue providing local benefits to judges. Other counties like Fresno decided that the law only covered judges on the bench at the time it was enacted; judges appointed or elected later dont receive the same local benefits. In 2004, Monterey County leaders decided they were no longer required to pay benefits to trial court judges, according to media accounts. After the judges threatened to sue, the two sides struck an agreement, and the county continues paying some benefits today, the countys budget shows.

2007-03-24 Aspen Times News for Aspen Colorado - Arts and Entertainment

Even though hes 40 now, Adam Sandler easily could have continued playing Happy Gilmore or Little Nicky or any of the other characters in his arsenal of arrested development. Thats what made him famous thats what made him popular. But hes shown a surprising amount of wisdom in deciding to grow up on screen as well as off of it, and following more mature roles in Punch-Drunk Love and Spanglish, this is his meatiest yet. Its also his most maudlin. Sandler stars as a troubled former dentist who has suppressed the memory of his wife and three daughters, who died in 9/11. He runs into his college roommate (Don Cheadle) and rejuvenates an old friendship that both men need. Cheadle brings his typical intelligence and nuance to what might have been a dry, straight-man role; he could elevate anyones game, and here, he and Sandler

2007-03-17 The Big Islands top three easy snorkeling spots: Los Angeles Times Travel

Hard to get to, hard to find, these shallow tide pools, sheltered from the ocean by a mile-long reef, offer spectacular snorkeling sort of like diving into the ornamental saltwater aquarium in your dentists lobby. To negotiate the shallows between the pools without touching the coral, go at high tide. Also, dont use fins; you wont need them and you can accidentally kick the coral in close quarters. Wear soled neoprene booties that will help you walk across the volcanic rock. Access to the area is through a small housing development whose residents may not be pleased to see you. Be mindful that some of the volcanically heated pools are on private property.

2007-04-04 Pre-game vs. San Antonio

The Danny Fortson saga continues and this one is a doozy. Fortson canceled an appointment with the dentist today and was told he could not fly because the abcess in his mouth could explode in the air. So of course, for his safety, Fortson will miss the two-game road trip and be available for the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday, until he comes up with another excuse.

The Sonics are going to try to avoid getting blown out early against the Spurs, which has been the case in their previous three losses by an average of 30. 6 points, even if that means Rashard Lewis had to get an early respect technical to keep the sometimes overaggressive Bruce Bowen off of his hip. Lewis has no problem arguing fouls, but the next step in his career will entail barking at an official and getting the next call. Lewis does not get to the free throw line as often as he should and he needs to change that in the coming years.

Option was exercised by the Los Angeles Dodgers, who added a 2009 team option to his deal. The 57-year-old Little guided the Dodgers to an 88-74 record last season in his first year as their manager. Los Angeles won the N. L. wild card, then lost three straight to the New York Mets.

Is undergoing chemotherapy after a dentist removed a cancerous growth from his mouth. The 55-year-old coach said he wasnt even aware he had a growth when he saw his dentist late last month in Cleveland for a routine cleaning. After the growth was removed, a biopsy diagnosed it as non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Subsequent exams found no evidence that the cancer has spread, but Davis said he is undergoing chemotherapy as a precaution. He had his first two-hour session last week, and will have between three and six more.
