Sensodyne Toothpaste Extra Teeth Whitening |
Sensodyne toothpaste is one of the first desensitizer toothpastes to come on the market. There have been many copy-cat toothpastes that have tried to emmulate Sensodyne, but the original is hard to beat.
Sensitive teeth can happen for a variety of reasons. The first and foremost is when the gum tissue receeds and exposes the much more sentitive root surface. The root surface has tiny pores that lead directly to the nerve center, or pulp, of the tooth. When an irritating substance, (such as sugars, and hot or cold foods or liquids), enter these pores, they cause pain in the tooth. Sensodyne toothpaste has an ingredient in it (Potassium Nitrate) that is designed to block these pores.
Sensodyne toothpaste works as advertized. However, to get maximum benefit from it, it must be used consistently; this means using it 2-3 times per day for at least a 2-week span. The effect of Sensodyne is cummulative, so the longer you use it, the faster and better it works!
As a dentist, I recommend Sensodyne to my patients with sensitive teeth. If Sensodyne does not work for you, then the problem with the tooth is more than just a toothpaste can fix. I recommend that a dentist look into the problem if you get no relief from Sensodyne.
